In the Pays Thionvillois, even in scorching heat, it’s still possible to combine discovery and coolness. Go a few kilometers underground, where you’ll find the memory of the epic of the iron mines and the Maginot Line. Immerse yourself in the day-to-day life of the gueules jaunes and the French soldiers of the Maginot Line. Discover their tricks, their modernity and their know-how in these galleries and concrete bunkers, which emerge from the ground like burrows.

These sites are guaranteed to maintain a constant temperature of 12 degrees all year round. But beware of temperature variations! Don’t forget to bring a sweater or cardigan for your visit, even if it’s hot outside.

In hot weather, it’s best to adapt your itinerary and opt for shady paths, such as those in forests. Make the most of the temperature difference under the trees. We particularly recommend the Bois de Thionville trail, the Fort d’Illange trail or the Beerenweg trail, which allows you to discover the forestry, fauna and flora of the undergrowth.
