To guarantee the quality of its products, the farm decides to produce everything (or almost everything) on site.
Production of feed for livestock: this is done on the farm from wheat and barley fields, with a mineral and vegetable supplement based on locally-produced rapeseed, sunflower and linseed (so no imported soya, and no GMOs). Production of feed for livestock: this is done on the farm from wheat and barley fields, with a mineral and vegetable supplement based on locally-produced rapeseed, sunflower and linseed (so no imported soya, and no GMOs). The role of the supplement is to provide the animals with the proteins, vitamins, amino acids and trace elements absent in cereals, but which are essential for the pigs' growth and development.
The farm is located at the back of the village. The pigs are raised on straw and slatted floors, with the animal's well-being in mind. Piglets come from two farms in Moselle. The farm has also created an on-site pig maternity unit.
To obtain mature, tasty meat, fattening lasts around 10 months, sometimes longer (compared with 5 to 6 months on industrial farms). The pigs are rationed: they are fed only twice a day to ensure regular, slow growth, conducive to more mature meat.
In addition to our pig meat, we also retail beef from the blonde d'Aquitaine region of France, raised on pasture in the Metz area, as well as organic poultry from a local farm.
