A warm welcome to cyclists!

Whether you’re cycling along the Moselle, out for a day’s ride or on a family cycling holiday, you’ll find all the information you need here to plan your stopover and make the most of your stay in the heart of the Thionville region.

What is the ‘Accueil Vélo’ scheme?

The ‘Accueil Vélo’ label is a national scheme that guarantees cycle tourists a warm welcome and suitable facilities within 5 km of a cycle route.

Accredited establishments undertake, in particular, to offer:

✔️ A personalised welcome and useful information for cyclists
✔️ Secure parking for bicycles
✔️ A repair kit or basic repair assistance
✔️ Facilities and services tailored to cyclists’ needs
✔️ Advice on exploring the area by bike

Our tourist office, “Pays Thionvillois Tourisme”, has held the “Accueil Vélo” accreditation since 2022.

Getting around by bike

Travelling with your bike

Are you travelling by train with your bike? Most regional trains allow bikes on board, subject to the conditions set by the transport operators. We advise you to check the rules for transporting your bike before you set off.

Do you prefer public transport? On the TEMO’B bus network, only folding bikes are permitted on board. They must be folded during the journey to ensure the comfort and safety of all passengers.

Taxis that accept bicycles

In the event of unforeseen circumstances, tiredness or a breakdown, several local taxi companies can provide transport for travellers and, depending on the vehicles available, their bicycles. Please do not hesitate to ask our Tourist Office for further information.

Are you travelling in a motorhome?

The Thionville region has several motorhome sites and parking facilities, allowing you to explore the area by bike in complete freedom. An excellent option for exploring the Voie Bleue and local cycle routes.
